There are other online learning programs that I can use, why should I consider TabletClass?

TabletClass has been designed to provide the highest quality online math education available without a high price tag. Members get access to an extensive video library of effective instruction by a certified and experienced math teacher. John Zimmerman’s personable and engaging videos can impact the weakest of math students to excel. John is committed to helping families save money and prepare their child for the challenges of high school math.

Of course TabletClass features just don’t stop with great videos–there are complete course notes, chapter quizzes and tests, and an in-depth parent teaching guide that shares the tips and secrets to managing the courses. How does the TabletClass Math program work?

The TabletClass Math program empowers homeschool parents by providing a structured and comprehensive math curriculum, taught by an experienced, certified math teacher. It combines video lessons with worksheets for practice, solution videos for self-assessment, chapter quizzes for mastery, comprehensive chapter notes for study aids, and extra problem worksheets for additional practice.

With 24/7 access and self-paced learning, students can work at their own speed and receive personalized instruction to ensure they have a thorough understanding of each concept before moving on.

Do I need a textbook to use the TabletClass program?

No, you don’t need a textbook or any other supplemental material to use the TabletClass Math program. We provide everything you need online, including hundreds of pages of notes and worksheets that cover thousands of problems. Our courses also include chapter tests and answer keys for self-assessment.

However, if you have a math textbook, it can offer additional problems to practice and explore. Older math books are just as good as the new ones, so if you decide to purchase a math book, we suggest buying a used textbook to save money. But please note that a textbook is not required for using our program as we provide everything needed for a comprehensive math education.

Does TabletClass meet state requirements for homeschool?

Each state has different homeschool requirements. We are very confident that our courses will meet and exceed your state’s requirements. Our program has even been adopted in some public schools because our courses align to many state standards (outside of Common Core). However, it’s always a good idea to double check our curriculum with your state’s most current requirements.

Do all the videos in the system have to be watched in the order that they appear?

It really depends on how you plan to use the TabletClass system. If you plan to use TabletClass Math as your main source of instruction, we do recommend watching all the videos, in the order shown, to fully master the core skills and concepts covered in each chapter. Our course navigator is organized similar to chapters in a textbook, making it easy to navigate through the material.

Alternatively, you can also use TabletClass Math as a ready reference or tutorial system. Students can log in 24/7 to watch specific lessons they need help with, allowing them to continue progressing with their math education at their own pace.

My child has special needs, is TabletClass right for them?

Yes! John Zimmerman has personally worked with many special needs students over the years and achieved outstanding results. He believes that a student must feel confident about their ability to learn before actual achievement takes place. Time and again John has motivated young people with encouragement and he has brought this same passion to the TabletClass system.

When designing the course, John kept in mind that many students using the system may have learning disabilities. As such, the TabletClass system was well thought out to be an easy to use self-learning system. Our videos are engaging and effective and appeal to a wide range of learning stimulation from visual to auditory. Also if your child needs more time to become proficient in a concept, they can go through the videos at their own pace and watch the videos as many times as they like.

Does TabletClass provide grades and tests?

TabletClass does not issue grades to its members. However, we do offer a Parent Portal to include excellent tests with answer keys and a final exam, along with guidance and tips to help your child achieve the best homeschool math experience. Click here to learn more about the Parent Portal.

I already have a curriculum, why should I spend more money to enroll in TabletClass?

We understand that homeschooling costs can add up quickly. TabletClass wants to help those families on a tight budget by offering a complete, powerful and effective learning program for less than the average cost of 2 hours of tutoring. If you already have a curriculum, consider the value of having:

•  An experienced certified math instructor teach and focus your child on mastering the most important and practical skills that are essential to advance in mathematics.
•   Access to a vast resource of effective and engaging video lessons that breaks up the routine of textbook/worksheet instruction.
•   The ability to access lessons on-demand through any browser so your child can learn on the go
•   Complete chapter notes
•   A Parent Guide Book that explains many topics relevant to math education to include, guidelines for grading and testing, tips and other valuable information to effectively manage a math course.

How do I know what course is right for my child...are there any placement tests?

Yes, placement tests are available on the course curriculum pages. We strongly suggest that you go to our course pages and read the specific curriculum details and the prerequisite guidelines. Don’t be afraid to move forward on a decision. If your child starts the course, you will likely know in the first month if your placement was a good choice or if you’ll need to change course level.

If you’re still not sure about what course your child should start, please feel free to contact us. We are happy to help you determine the right course for your child.

How long does is generally take to complete a full course?

Our middle and high school courses are designed to be completed within a normal academic year schedule, which is approximately 7-10 months assuming a student works about 1 hour a day, 5 days a week. However, every student is unique and may work at a different pace, so the time frame may vary. We understand that some students may need more time to complete the course, and we offer the flexibility to extend your membership as needed.

We recommend most homeschoolers consider our 1 year plan so that if your child finishes within 12 months (which is the average), you can move on to the next course and make the most of your membership time.

I have my own homeschool teaching philosophy. Would I need to follow the TabletClass system exactly as recommended to gain value from the material?

Absolutely not! We want you, the parent, to be creative and confident to make the appropriate adjustments that best fits your family’s needs. Studies suggest most homeschoolers modify and customize standard curricula to teach their children. TabletClass recognizes that it’s impossible to have a one size fits all approach and is designed to be highly flexible.

Can TabletClass Math prepare students for college and career success?

Yes, TabletClass Math can prepare students for college and career success in several ways. First, our courses cover all of the material that students need to know for standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT, which are often required for college admission. Additionally, our courses are designed to teach problem-solving skills and critical thinking, which are essential for success in college and many careers.

Furthermore, TabletClass Math courses are comprehensive and taught by a certified and experienced math teacher, providing students with a strong foundation in math. This foundation can be crucial for success in college-level math courses or for pursuing a career in a math-related field.

Having trouble logging in to a course?

If you’re experiencing issues logging into your TabletClass Math course, try the following steps:

  1. Close and restart your web browser, then try logging in again. This can clear any temporary glitches or errors that may be preventing you from accessing your course.
  2. Verify your internet connection to make sure it’s stable and strong. Slow or unreliable internet can cause login issues, so try restarting your modem or router, or switching to a different network if possible.
  3. Check if you have any internet security software that may be blocking the site. Disable any firewall or antivirus software temporarily and see if you’re able to log in. This can be particularly helpful if you’re using a public wi-fi network, which may have restrictions in place.
  4. If possible, try logging in on another device to see if the issue is specific to your computer or browser. You can also try clearing your browser cache and cookies, which can sometimes resolve login problems.
  5. Lastly, try using a different browser (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc.).

If none of these steps resolve the issue, contact us for further assistance. Be sure to provide as much information as possible about the issue you’re experiencing, including any error messages you may be receiving.
